BIRTHDAY BOY

I can’t believe I totally forgot to post a blog about how my boyfriend and I celebrated his birthday.I was actually thinking I have already blogged about it! Maybe I was just too preoccupied. Holiday season, my uncle’s death, workload at the office, family gatherings… the list goes on.

Of course the usual sleepover will be there. I get more used to sleeping beside him which is very comforting. It gives me a sense of security and calmness. There were even times when I prefer to sleep beside him than alone in my bed but I have to work that out on my own since we can’t sleep together every night. We’re not yet living together, if that’s what you’re thinking. He sleeps over for like once or twice a week so we can watch movies all night together. Going back to the birthday event, it was on the 21st when he stayed here. I want to be with him on his birthday and be the first person to personally greet him. Hence, the sleepover.

The next day, we went back to their house to just drop by his family for his birthday. We had some brunch with them and then we’re off to our date. We didn’t eat much at their house since we’re planning to enjoy the good food we ought to ingest.

First stop was at Thaidara, a restaurant catering Bangkok street food. Definitely authentic.

They have the best PadThai, I should say.

DSC03489

I tried this crispy cream dory already but I still ordered for it so that he could have a taste of this perfectly cooked fish. Crispy outside but very soft and yummy inside.

DSC03486

And when I asked if they have something new, they offered us this hot wings. Just perfectly spiced.

DSC03490

The restaurant is actually very small. There are seats upstairs as well though. The interior is mostly white probably to make the area look bigger. They have some cute chairs with pillows on it. The place is good for small or big groups. They also offer reservations.

After our lunch, we went back home to my apartment to get some of my things since he’ll drop me at home after our big day so I had to gather all my things. Then we went to Stacy’s for some desserts. Our reservation is at 8pm and we’re actually still full from our late lunch at Thaidara so we opted for dessert.

Stacy’s is actually a very pretty restaurant. The interior looks very nice.

DSC03540

The lighting is perfect. The tables and chairs are perfect for the look they try to achieve.

DSC03516

An event was just held that’s why there aren’t any customers yet. A reservation of the whole restaurant for a child’s first birthday, I think. It’s a good place for such events, I should say.

DSC03506

For dessert of course I tried the red velvet cupcake…

DSC03508

He had the Devil’s Food Cake…

DSC03512

And we ordered for an Apple Pie as well.

DSC03517

I like the red velvet although it’s a bit dry. But it tastes well and good enough. I didn’t try the Devil’s Food Cake since I am avoiding chocolate already due to the migraine attacks I usually have. The Apple pie is a sure winner for me. Definitely delicious.

I found another cool thing about Stacy’s… They have straws which are environment friendly. Paper straws. 🙂

When we asked for the bill, they gave us a free yummy treat.

After visiting these restaurants, not yet commonly known… we were off to his friend’s house to celebrate his birthday with his friends. It was a great day for him. He got to see his family, have a date with his girlfriend (yours truly) and had a bonding session with some old friends he had not seen for a long time already. I’m glad that he’s happy and satisfied that day. ^_^

Filing Experience and Eat Fresh Satisfaction

I just officially personally filed a complaint with the Office of the City Prosecutor and the Professional Regulation Commission. It was exhausting. Really.

I was with my boss along with our clients, the complainants, since they were required to personally appear before the assigned public prosecutor for the day to sign and to take their oath in front of the public prosecutor.

The process with the OCP was quick, lucky that the assigned public prosecutor was not in a hearing that day, so we didn’t have to wait long. No assessment for the fees that were collected before, such as the filing fee and the oath fee, was necessary. Based on a DOJ Circular, all previous circulars that were issued imposing filing fees for criminal complaints filed with the DOJ and offices of the city and provincial prosecutors nationwide, were revoked. Considering that we filed a criminal complaint with the OCP, our clients were no longer required to pay any fees for such filing.

So off we went to PRC. There were a lot of exam registrants there. They were all processing their application for the examination to be conducted next year. Hence, there were a lot of people lining up. And us? We were there to file an administrative complaint against an architect. It wasn’t that difficult to deal with the legal staff of PRC but then there’s a docket fee to be paid and the line at the cashier took sooooo long. We only had to pay Php 235.00 as docket fee plus Php 10.00 for the LRF. So that’s Php 245.00. We were informed that we can pay that amount in any cashier window so we looked for one that has lesser people lining up. It took us about 30-45 minutes to wait in line. And finally when it was our turn to process the payment, the cashier cannot process it claiming that she can’t provide the receipt for the Php 10.00 LRF. So I insisted that she should talk to the other cashier at another floor to give them a heads up that they should entertain us immediately since we were in line for almost an hour already and we can’t afford to wait any longer. So we went there at the other cashier and luckily our payment was processed immediately. Back at the legal office, we had the pleading stamped by the staff. They were nice to even give us free fasteners in filing the pleading along with the annexes. And that was it.

It was just sad that my phone was out of battery that time. I wasn’t able to take any pictures of the long lines at the cashier, the legal office itself as well as the good food we ate at Eat Fresh Famous Hong Kong Street Food. Eat Fresh is the bomb! The Beef Brisket was a sure winner. It was served on a hot pot where you put the sauce on it and just let it sizzle. After that, try to get to the bottom of the hot pot to get the rice almost sticking to the bottom of the pot in its crispy texture. THE best. They also have this shrimp dumpling (I can’t remember the name of this shrimp in the menu. Sorry.) that was really really yummy. Actually they have all kinds of great tasting dumplings and balls. The squid balls with the curry sauce was a good one as well. Not like any other typical squid ball. We had the pancake balls as dessert that you eat along with the peanut butter sauce. It was a great experience. It was just so unfortunate for me not to be able to take any pictures of the good food we had. And the price? Super sulit! The hotpot rice meals were only for Php 135.00 to Php 160.00. The price for the balls ranged from Php 25.00-50.00. We also had this spicy chicken pieces which was good along with the HongKong fried noodles (Only Php 50.00). I would strongly recommend Eat Fresh. It’s just like a small carinderia at Banawe. 🙂 I also saw this blog about Eat Fresh. Truly satisfying.

And there you go… exhausted yet satisfied. I had a happy tummy yesterday. ^_^

Lawyered Anniversary Date

We planned the whole anniversary date. Considering that last year when we celebrated his birthday, we planned to dine at Chef Laudico’s Bistro at BGC however, it was full and we did not have any reservation then. So we ended up eating at THE STOCK MARKET which wasn’t that good, actually. Nothing great about the food, they even served the food we didn’t order and when they served the food we actually ordered, it was already cold. But then the restaurant looks nice and clean, so that’s a point for them at least.

Anyway, going back to Chef Laudico’s… we finally experienced pinoy food with an extreme kind of twist. We ordered for the Four-Course Set so that we could try most of the food they serve. The set was only for 788pesos and we were satisfied.

Image

First up, the coffee. Well, I didn’t try the coffee since I’m not into coffee but the coffee person that he is, he ordered for coffee which was part of the set menu we ordered for.

Image

For the pica-pica and appetizers:

I ordered the Lumpia Cones, which is really good.

Image

The vinegar sauce was such a winner for me.

Image

He ordered for three sets of appetizers (he really wanted to try mostly everything in the menu).

Image

This is the Sisig Basket which I wasn’t able to try since he didn’t share it with me.

Image

The Gambas Flambe which was also good. I only tried a very small piece.

Image

Silken Tokwa’t Baboy

Image

This is the Adobo Mushroom Capuccino Soup which was really weird for my taste buds. I can’t explain the mix but it isn’t that bad.

Image

And this is the All-Organic Salad with Pepper Adobo. The adobo sauce was too powerful though.

Image

And I wonder what this leaf is, anyone who knows what this is?

Image

For the Main Course, we ordered kare-kare and the Seafood Mix Grill.

The Kare-kare was ok for him but not really that good since he wasn’t able to have a taste of the bagoong which was at the very center of the food mixed with the puso ng saging. The Seafood Mix Grill was really good with all the sauces (Buro Cream Sauce was the best, next is the Talangka sauce and the other one which I forgot what it was called.)

Image

Tuna slice with the Buro Cream Sauce (The best!)

Image

Tuna sclice with Talangka Sacue

Image

We ordered dessert, which was just a little bit of mostly everything there is.

Image

The Halo-Halo Sherbet and Molten Chocolate Cake

Image

The Maja Blanca Cheesecake

Image

Sans Rival Moderne

Image

Pandesal Pudding

Image

And the Calamansi Tart with a playful twist of asim and tamis!

Image

Overall, the experience was great, the food was extraordinary yet sumptuous and the ambiance was also a winner for us. It was a super fine date. I would recommend pinoys to try and dine here since the twist in the pinoy food recipes allows our taste buds to explore and enjoy a different mix.
